Canberra BMW Group Donates BMW R 18 To The Ricky Stuart Foundation
In December 2021, Canberra BMW Motorrad, along with all other Motorrad dealers in Australia, ran the “Wrap Battle.”
The Wrap Battle was a contest between Motorrad dealers in Australia to see who could design and market the most attractive BMW R 18. Each dealership was tasked with designing an R 18, and then had to promote this one-of-a-kind custom bike to their audience. Whichever bike received the most votes at the end of the competition period would win.
Canberra BMW Motorrad’s take on the design mixed old school and modern elements to make the black and white really pop!
Canberra BMW Motorrad’s custom BMW R 18 was the most voted for bike, winning by just seven votes at the end of the competition period! This meant the dealership acquired the bike at no cost.
Canberra BMW Group decided to donate the custom R 18 to charity, and what better charity to donate to than the local Ricky Stuart Foundation.
The Ricky Stuart Foundation was created in 2011 with a clear mission to provide a voice for families and individuals with autism nationally. Ricky Stuart, founder of the organization and Canberra Raiders coach, says he believes in keeping families together, by ensuring that every individual with autism and their family has access to state-of-the-art respite facilities and best practice housing models.
The foundation’s vision is to provide and create an inclusive and accepting in Australia, through national education and awareness campaigns and program in school, workplaces and community.
The Ricky Stuart Foundation made the decision to raffle off the custom BMW R 18, which we were more than happy to support by hosting an event at the Canberra BMW dealership.
A high-end charity event was held at Canberra BMW on Thursday the 16th of June. Over 120 guests attended, including Canberra Raiders players Jack Wighton, Jordan Rapana and Elliott Whitehead. Guests were served canapes by The Lazy Grazer, wine from the local Four Winds Vineyard and beer from local Capital Brewery.
Towards the end of the night, Miranda Garnett, CEO of The Ricky Stuart Foundation, and Michael Andrews, Canberra BMW Motorrad Sales Manager, drew the raffle. Local Canberran, Helen MacDuff was the lucky winner of the custom BMW R 18.
Canberra BMW Group’s Dealer Principal, Patrick Van Den Bogaart, and Marketing Manager, Izi Tanewski, would like to extend a big thank you to everyone that purchased a ticket in the raffle. A total of $37,500 was raised for The Ricky Stuart Foundation, which will help progress the introduction of an education program in Australian schools to help kids learn about autism and how to connect with and support their peers.
